7 reasons to adopt a Feed Reader

I promise I'll return with the crafts theme on my next post, with photos to show you ;) but now I need to add a little more information to yesterday's post. For bloggers who feel lost when it comes to feed readers, here are some clarifications. I hope it will be helpful :)

First, nothing will change on our blogs, there are no changes on Blogspot! Just Google Reader is closing but there are others such as Feedreader, FeedDemon, Feedly (Heather wrote about this on her comment), NewsBlur, etc. etc. or Bloglovin' (that was my choice but it's just one example among many!)

If you don't use any reader yet for sure you follow less than 300 blogs, (unless it changes this year) this is the limit on Blogger. From there on, you can't follow new blogs, only by subscribing from a reader. That's my case, I've crossed 300 a long time ago :p If you follow a lower number of pages, you haven't felt the need to have a support tool, which doesn't mean it wouldn't make your life easier anyway ;)

7 Reasons to Use a Feed Reader:
1. One single place where we have all updates whenever new content is published on our favorite pages
2. Useful helps us to easily identify posts that we haven't read yet
3. Time saver because we don't need to open each page individually looking for new posts!
4. Practical we can read new posts directly on our reader or click and open the original pages that have updates
5. Versatile lets you subscribe to any web page you want to follow, not just limited to blogs
6. Favorites with a simple click we mark our favorite posts to review without having to dig back in time
7. Organize everything os easier when the house is not a mess :) keep our feeds in folders, by categories or themes (for example: Family, Crafts, Cooking... Or ex.: Cross Stitch, Crochet, Knitting...)

Like anything that's new, you may wonder at first but believe me when I say you'll adapt in a couple of days. Let's take the example of a dishwasher: we can do the same without the machine but it does make our life easier :p At the beginning we don't know how it works but soon we learn those 3 functions that we'll use, easily integrates into our routine and in no time we will be able to put the dishes to wash even in the dark! :D Literally! Heheheh A feed reader works the same way, 2 or 3 buttons that will help you daily! It's one of those things that once you start using, it's difficult to go back to your old life without them! ;)

  5. I opened a Bloglovin' account yesterday and it was so easy. This morning there was an email from them with all the newest posts from the blogs that I follow. I think I prefer it to Google reader. I think it's brilliant and I'll really appreciate it during the warmer months when we're away quite often. :)

  7. Sorry sweetie, I don't agree.. lol.
From teh beginning I was looking for something taht i could put all my follow blogs in, when i see a new post that i can click on it and the total post will pop op at that page, not a new page.
Google Reader, blog reader they didn't gave me that.
With the new update from Blogger, I can't find the Blog Reader anymore, because that was the best one that did a bit I wanted.
I always go look at my side bar on my blog too read blogs, I'm doing it for almost 4 years now and works perfect for me..
    Thankfully I don't have 300 blogs.. hihihi
I have put a few blogs in bloglovin, but can't find everyone..I search and search for Valérie her blog but he could not find it!!

Btw.. 300 blog are you CRAZYYYYY???????????

  9. Has i told you, i love Google Reader!
It works for me, because i just have to add link to blogs i like it, and then i can read all new post in that page.
I try it Bloglovin yesterday...but it didn't work for me. It let me read only the first sentences and then i have to open that post in a new window to read all text. I dont like this way.
With GR i could read all post in it, and i had to open a new window only when i want coment it.
I am trying "Feedly" now...so far so good...i am just getting used to it.
tell me, am i wrong about bloglovin'?

PS: Im writing this in english (my bad english) just because all coments are in english too. I liked read all those opinions, so maybe they want read one more too...in english everyone understands... but your answer could be in pt, i prefer... :P thanks

  10. Thank you for this post, I saw people saying they have moved there blog to bloglovin' and to follow them there - I though we would all have to start our blogs again! So nothing on Blogger will change, we can all just keep happily blogging away here?

I have never used a reader before, but I will look in to one, thanks!

    xxx

  16. Thank you for the hints on what to use instead of google reader... to be honest I don't read blogs in google reader anymore as I use "Byline" on my ipad to read them... Have now set up a bloglovin account and waiting for my 297 blogs to transfer across... I have never been able to get google reader to go pass 300... so I just delete old ones when I want to follow new ones. About to see what happens with Byline now, hopefully it will still work with the RSS feeds from Bloglovin.
All this technology hurts my little brain.. so I am very happy for someone to give me some pointers in the right direction - thank you :o)
See you on the other side :o)
    Hugs
    xx
